Mom struggles…
When life sometimes feels like endless chores that regenerate themselves almost instantly, all while yelling “I said no!”,”don’t touch that!”, “Eat your food!”,”pick up your mess!”,”Stop!”, “Please listen!”…
uggghhhh…
Is anyone paying attention to what mom needs? ..Anyone?
Of course, HE is listening!
God knows when I have reached a limit and need some time to recoup. He knows what I can handle and makes me a stronger wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend.. I need only to listen in return.
We get so distracted or discouraged in our daily lives and forget that all of our worries can be lifted if we just place our faith in him. God brings us where we need to be, WHEN we need to be there. Not when we choose.
Say Hello to Patience!
We live in a world focused on getting what we want, or think we need, when we want it.
Life isn’t that simple, and it shouldn’t be. If it was, what a boring world it would be! Right? Getting everything we want when we want it leaves us feeling empty and ungrateful. I want to be full of gratitude and thirsty for more.
Patience. Is. Key.
We expect God to guide us and help us without giving any of our time to him. Sounds kinda selfish, and I want to focus on being selfless- focusing on myself, less.
Here I am, devoting my time and schedule to adding more of what I need…
So here it is.. my simple morning plan.
1. Make my bed!π (Simple? You bet!) I heard a speech online from a Marine about the importance of starting your day with accomplishing a task- that task being “making your bed”. Completing a task sets the stage for the rest of the day! I feel encouraged and ready to take on the next task… and before I know it, I have been more productive just by starting the day with something so simple. Who knew making your bed could help you be a better person?! I sure was skeptical until I began my day that way. I swear, it really works!
2. Drink some coffee!β (Mmmm) sometimes you need a little oomph to get moving.. I know I sure do. Coffee gives me the motivation to be a morning person because I am very much a night owl… not ideal with children.. they wake early. π Hence the need for coffee in my routine. (I’ll post more on this habit later.)
3. Read a bible verse.π (Fill my soul!) This seems to be more difficult than I first thought! How can I need Jesus so badly every single day, but not need to read the bible everyday? Truth is it is far too easy to ignore and yet when I do this, my day is always made better. Such a small effort, open to any page and read, every time I do this I feel like He is speaking to me. I tend to always open to the perfect page. Just what I need. Try it and see… I hope you’ll agree. πβ€
4. Do some yoga!π§ββοΈ(It feels so good!) You don’t have to know much to stretch properly… that’s what yoga is. You aren’t able to do yoga because you are flexible.. you become flexible by doing yoga. So start! You’ll be glad you did. There are all sorts of simple instructions to get you started.. google it and you’ll see.
The best part about my routine…
Kids can join!
If they see you making your bed, you are setting a good example for them to want to have a nice bed like yours.
If you read the bible (while drinking your coffee), you can read it aloud and feed their little souls too!
If you do yoga, kids looove to stretch and show you how flexible they already are. π They are great at motivating… and sometimes they love to climb on you while you do it. So even if you can’t quite do every asana, you will most likely end up spending quality time having fun with your kiddos. A win-win!
Basically, these 4 things in my daily routine help improve my patience and my productivity. I am sure they can help you too.
Start by making your bed and see where it takes you! π
Happy mom-ing!!
